The Itinerary

 

Day 1 | Ulaanbaatar City

Welcome to Mongolia-the Country of Eternal Blue Sky and land of Nomads. Upon your arrival at Chinggis Khaan Airport, Laguna Stella's team will be waiting for you. We will take you to your hotel centrally located in downtown Ulaanbaatar. Enjoy some walking chill-out (depending on your arrival timing) to Sukhbaatar Square and Monument of Chinggis Khaan.

Day 2 | Erdene Zuu Monastery

Excursion to Erdene Zuu Monastery and the ruins of Karakorum, capital of Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous empire in history. Enclosed by a quadrilateral of imposing walls surmounted by 108 white Tibetan chortens,it was one of the greatest centers of Lamaist Buddhist thought outside of Tibet. Erected in 16th century, the most ancient of the Mongolian monasteries housed inside the city walls one hundred temples that were largely destroyed in the 1930s. Few buildings are survivors of this destruction, however within them some of the highest ones are preserved masterpieces of the Lamaist art. You can attend the Buddhist ceremony of Lamaist monks in the main Erdene Zuu monastery. Continuation and visit of the ruins of Karakorum.

Day 3 | Nomads and Horses (River Orkhon area)

After your visit at Erdene Zuu Monastery, you and your companions will head to Orkhon River basin for visiting your host family to provide you with horses and show you their way of living in the countryside. Spend the day with the family and get to know your horses for your riding adventures.

Day 4-6 | Lake Shireet (Trekking days)

During those 3 days around the Eight Lakes also known as Naiman Nuur, you will discover the forest and steppe on your Mongolian horseback and settle in tent near lakeshores in the evening. Your cook will serve Mongolian and out-door meals for you in the wilderness. Imagine how wonderful all these will be when you just find yourself in the silent, and pristine nature. Your daily riding distance would 20-30 kms with many stoping by and taking wonderful photos and chill-out in open air.

Day 7 | Orkhon Waterfall

Our horse-back trekking continue to explore the Orkhon Waterfall, locally also known as Ulaan Tsutgalan. After enjoying our view of the Waterfall or even some swimming if you would like, we head to our Tour Camp/Ger camp nearby.

Day 8 | Tuvkhun Monastery

Our day starts with a 2-3 hours trekking up to the Tuvkhun Monastery which located on the mountain cliff. We will have picturesque scenery through forests and have our picnic in nature. After climbing up, we will have our touring in the monastery. The Monastery is situated on a flat rocky area on the top part of the Shiveet-Ulaan Mountain and is surrounded by wild forest and rock cliffs. Visitors hike 5 km up to the monastery from the skirt of the mountain. The Tuvkhun monastery was first established in 1648 by the 14-year-old Zanabazar first Jebtsundamba khutuktu Bogd. He first noticed this beautiful place in 1651 and then he built a small wooden cabin for meditation. That was the beginning of the Tuvkhun monastery. The Monastery was built by Mongolian carpenters and all the buildings have perfect mortises.

Day 9 | Khustai National Park

Home to Wild horses. The driving would take some 3-4 hours with spectacular view of Mongolian grasslands in Khangai-Steppe region of Bulgan Province. On the way to Bayangobi camp and Elsentasarkhai sand dunes, we also visit Khustai National Park where you can see Przewalski's horses and visit local museum of the National Park. By late afternoon, we reach our touring camp nearby sand dunes. Enjoy your dinner and stay overnight in Mongolian ger.

Day 10 | Ulaanbaatar discovery

Today we will visit Gandan Monastery and National History Museum. After that, we also visit Mongolian State Department store and Gobi/Goyo Cashmere. Mongolian is well known for its fine and quality cashmere products. In the evening we will attend to Tumen Ekh Folklore Concert which famous for its wide variety of dance and singing performances as blessings to your journey. We will have a farewell dinner at one of Mongolia's prestigious restaurant.

Day 11 | Departure

Your driver and Trip Leader/Guide will take you to the Airport for your departure.
